Harry Georgiou, one of the new members of our laboratory, was selected for a studentship at CERN this past summer. Founded in 1954, CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, is one of the world’s largest and most respected centers for scientific research and is one of Europe’s first joint ventures with 20 Member States. Its business is fundamental physics, finding out what the Universe is made of and how it works.
At CERN, Harry worked with a team of researchers to develop a sensors cooling system for the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). Science, especially nuclear and particles physics, has always been a passion of Harris, who credits his research activities and IAESTE experience as the leading factors for being chosen for the highly competitive CERN studentship.
We would like to welcome Harry back to Cyprus and wish him the best for his upcoming undergraduate thesis work!
